The coronavirus has hit the world with a crash.  We have seen the SARS virus in 2002, Ebola in 2004, not to mention HIV that peaked around 2005, and going back to 1968 there was flu pandemic.

These are all terrible outbreaks and the biggest problem is the smart people don’t know exactly what it is and we are stuck in a terrible time where many smart people are working on a solution.

The impact on business has been enormous.  Ginormous (like that made up word!) is more like it.  This impact on the world has been jaw dropping.

How does business recover from this?  How can we stay in business?

New Work Location

Offices are packed with people which is also a fantastic place for spreading germs.  I does not matter how careful you are.  If you are sick, some of your germs will end up on somebody else.

That just gave me an idea to write another blog post about sick time given out by companies.  Current models encourage people to come staggering into the office spreading their germs to the entire team.  But that is for another blog post.

Meanwhile back to coronavirus…

Having a remote work option for your employees is absolutely critical.  If you have a plan in place, your employees can stay home in a moment’s notice and continue their work.  Of course, some workplaces cannot have employees stay at home (think hospitals and grocery stores).  However, many people can work from home and that that takes the pressure off roads, public buildings, etc.

I realize now it is too late to put together a new complete process and procedure for remote work but…you can do something quick for this crisis and then plan for a more comprehensive remote work plan for the next crisis that is coming your way.
