I have been so fortunate to have worked in the tech industry for many years and have worked with some incredible people who are so incredibly smart (and made me feel stupid).
But, everything was so serious.
I like to shake it up and cause problems.
At the end of one long meeting, the host asked if there were any questions on any topic.
That prompted a question from me if he was serious about “any topic”. He affirmed he was.
I asked, “What is the capital of North Dakota?” In a flash, people were searching the Internet rushing to get the answer.
I was stunned…a number of team members thought I was serious in my request and needed the info!
Another time during a painful discussion of problems in a system, I gave the dazzling advice that since 95% of all problems are reported by our customers, if we removed all the customers from the servers, we would only have 5% of problems. Absolutely brilliant!
My words were barely out when it was pointed out to me that without customers we would have no income and would close down! No kidding!
All you tech types need me in your meetings to shake things up…let’s have fun in these meetings!
