They are everywhere.
The quiet workers that sit patiently at their desks getting their work done.
They are not running around asking for everyone to look at them and trying to be onstage all the time.
They stay in the corner and get the work done.
Isolation
These employees like to be alone.
If the purpose of your business is to have a social mixer, then the introverts are a bad fit.
However, if the purpose of your business to get something done, these introverts want to move away from everyone and get the work done as quickly as possible.
They find social interaction a drain on their mentality…it tires them out. Sitting int he corner and getting their work done meets their needs and THEY GET THE WORK DONE!
Praises
Introverts don’t need a parade in their honor each day.
Extroverts love to have interaction with team members and ache for high praise. Everyone, and I mean everyone, loves praise and good words for their work but extroverts need it to live!
Introverts are not constantly hinting for praise.
Controlling Chaos
Chaos happens in all work environments.
Introverts work through the chaos by listening, analyzing, and going into a corner to ponder on it.
This may confuse managers and other team members. Because the introverted team member is not running around the office holding their head in their hands, moaning and breathing heavily, it does not mean they don’t understand the seriousness of the problem.
Rather than wasting time running around emoting, they are analyzing the problem and coming up with ideas to solve the issues.
Realism
Introverts look at problems with a realistic and possibly pessimistic view.
While that sounds like bad mental health, it actually is great for a business.
A new idea and plan is so exciting and it is easy to get caught up in the drama around a new product or service idea.
However, it is a long trip from idea to launch to the customers. Introverts think about all the steps involved to get this project completed and are realistic how difficult the task will be. They can be so negative that it can hurt new projects but their realistic sense of the challenge is a big help.
Verbal Diarrhea
Introverts tend to have an economy of words. Everyone has been in a meeting where someone was droning on and on and saying nothing.
Introverts usually will talk later in the meeting because they have been listening and mulling over the problem. Listen to them because you will probably find a gem of idea in their comments.
This is tricky because they will probably not explain it in detail – so pay attention.
Hail to the Introvert!
A business needs all types of people to be successful. It is easy to focus on the extrovert and their front of the line activities. You really need those people!
The introvert is also needed because someone needs to be in the corner getting the work done.
There are other personalities that are needed for a successful business but don’t forget the introverts!
