- The Superbowl has a great impact on businesses
- Some companies close their door or reduce operations on the Monday following Superbowl
- Companies cannot fight this problem
- Some employees will have a hangover from alcohol
- Other employees will be in a fog from so much grilled food
Based on past Superbowls, about 112 million of our fellow countrymen/women will watch the football extravaganza on February 3 (see past viewer records).
That means that about 35% of the country (Census Bureau) will be fixated in front of their new 4K TVs counting the blades of grass they can discern on the eye-watering clear screen. After spending Sunday stuffing themselves with chips, burgers, beer and soda, they will be put into a stupor that will carry over to Monday.
Scientists have concluded that too much grilled food combined with alcohol will cause a mental fog for more than 24 hours.
On Monday, these poor souls to file into work at o’dark zero Monday morning and businesses will get a third of their workforce as walking zombies. The glazed eyes, stumbling gait, minds that forgot everything from the previous week, and mouths that cannot form words properly will mean a bad day for hundreds of thousands of organizations.
The bright-eyed non-football fans who could not care less about the game will be at work bright and eager to tear into their work.
For organization executives, speak slowly and clearly on that Monday. Remember your employees that are suffering!
